United States of America – Hurricane Maria

04 octubre, 2017

USPS wishes to update designated operators of UPU member countries on the status of USPS operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of many, mail service continues to increase across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. As mail arrives from the U.S. mainland and is transported and processed across the islands, postal employees are out in full force providing customers with mail and retail services in postal facilities that were not significantly damaged by Hurricane Maria. Where offices are damaged, nearby locations have been designated for customers to pick up mail. Carriers have begun to deliver where it is safe to do so.

Electrical power has not been fully restored, and operations continue to be affected. USPS will provide additional updates when available.
