The designated operator of Panama, Correos de Panamá, would like to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to airlines’ lack of capacity, and as part of COVID-19 prevention measures, it is currently unable to send outgoing mail (letter-post, parcel-post or EMS items) to the following destinations:
1. Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania;
2. Certain Latin American countries (Argentina, Aruba, Ecuador, Haiti, Honduras, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela, Bolivarian Rep.).
Transit à découvert and closed transit services to these destinations will likewise be affected.
Correos de Panamá also wishes to inform its partners that there are delays in the arrival of mail addressed to Panama and, as a result, in its delivery to addressees. This means that it cannot meet the normal quality and delivery time standards for various services.
Correos de Panamá is thus declaring a situation of force majeure and is ceasing, with immediate effect, to accept outgoing and transit mail items for the above-mentioned destinations until such time as airlines inform it that the situation has improved.
Correos de Panamá wishes to thank the other Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding; it will keep them updated on the situation via EmIS.
